2023 Launch

From the original concept to launch, it all came together in just two months, thanks to our volunteers’ energy and commitment. Focused on post-holiday support to food pantries in need of restocking across Schenectady County. In the first year, Schenectady Shares collected just over 20,000 pounds of nonperishable food and personal hygiene items and $20,000 in donations. Schenectady Shares distributed the proceeds to 13 food providers across the county.

2024 Momentum

After the success of our first year, we began to expand our partner pantries and increased collection sites throughout the county. The drive succeeded in collecting 22,000 pounds of food and personal hygiene items and over $25,000 in donations. These resources were distributed to over 20 food providers in Schenectady County, serving approximately 11,000 people with three meals for three days.

2025 Growth and Success

Continuing to expand on past successes, Schenectady Shares’ 2025 campaign collected more than 24,000 pounds of food and raised over $26,000 in donations, with 65 collection sites across the county that resulted in 16 organizations distributing food to 26 local food providers. Schenectady Shares was also honored to be named the Grand Marshal for the 2025 Holiday Parade, with a fall food drive in partnership with the county that collected an additional 15,000 pounds of food and hygiene products.
